he puesto una succulenta y un poco de hierba en el tereno antes de marcharmé.... mañana tengo qué irmé.

| Poisonwood, also known as Florida poisontree or hog gum, is related to poison sumac and poison oak, all members of the cashew or sumac (Anacardiaceae) family. This beautiful tree grows abundantly in the Keys and can also be found in various ecosystems in southern Florida. The wood is dark brown streaked with red and is heavy and hard, but is not strong. The wood has no commercial value. The gummy sap of the bark has been used medicinally but with extreme caution. The fruit of the poisonwood is a favorite food source for the rare white-crowned pigeon. Other birds and animals also enjoy the fruit. | ||
| Identifying Characteristics | ||
Size/Form: | Poisonwood is an evergreen shrub or medium tree that reaches heights of 25' to 35' or taller. It characteristically has a short trunk with stout arching limbs and drooping branches that form a spreading, rounded crown. Poisonwood is often a shrub in the pinelands and a larger tree in the hammocks. | |
Leaves: | The leaves are odd-pinnately compound, alternately arranged, 6" to 10" long, and have 3 to 7, usually 5 leaflets. Each leaflet is 3" to 4" long by 2" to 3" wide and broadest near the base or middle. The oval to elliptical leaflets have smooth, glossy, dark green upper surfaces and are paler underneath. The leaf stem is smooth or finely hairy and swollen at the base. The leaflet base is wedged, rounded, or heart-shaped and the tip is acute or rounded. In addition to its leathery appearance, the leaflet has a margin that is thickened, slightly curled, and entire. Many leaflets will be blotched with irregular spots of black resin. | |
Fruit: | The fruit is a yellow-orange drupe that is about ½" long. The fruit hangs loosely in clusters and each drupe contains one, ¼", hard, brown seed. | |
Bark: | The reddish-brown or gray bark is thin and has dark, oily patches from the gummy sap. Older trunks have scaly bark. | |
Habitat: | Poisonwood grows near salt water on shorelines and in sandy dunes, tropical and coastal hammocks, and rockland pinelands. | |

Gilbert- HASHER
Esto es la entrada y a la derecha y izquierda.... selva, selva. No se puede pasar ni un metro por dentro... Necesitas una persona, qué de cortar pasillos para qué puedes entrar.. vamonos hasta el final de la entrada y despúes a la izquierda
...y aqui un pasillo que ha hecho Gilbert en un día con solo una machete.
Gilbert- el hombre de la selva : viene de un pueblo de Haiti donde son famosos sus HASHERS: pueden tocar POISON WOOD sin ningun problema y conocen todos las plantas buenas y bichos malos. Tiene un oido increíble y pueden cortar cualquier cosa, y mirar qué perfecto me ha hecho el pasillo arriba.

La vista desde el baño. No hay agua corriente, hay una cicterna fuera y hay que rellenar toto el dia el vater, la cocina la ducha ( con saco de camping) pero no importa! No me falta nada!
La Casa de LINDA: - dejó su perro aqui para un mes porque tenia que marcharse a USA por cosas familiares y me dejan la casa! El jardin es una pasada, no se ve muy bien pero imagináte qué todo eso ha sido o es una ROCA enorme.... vive desde los años 80 aqui....
He hecho un "smuggeling" de 2 plantas de Cantabia y aqui esán en tierra de Eleuthera!! COLA DE BURRO o Sedanum etc.
Miami Princess Hotel
Hola a todas, todos!
ya estuve en Miami en mi Hotel de siempre, que es medio puticlub pero es barato, bonito y limpio y se habla español. curioso la lampara sobre la cama... tenia unas estrellas por colpes.....
El dia siguente a Nassau y el mismo dia a Eleuthera. el tiempo es con viento y bien fresco (como a mi me gusta!)En Alemania han tenido tambien el Noviembre mas caluroso de todo tiempo..

Ahora está definitívo: voy el 28NOV de 2011 a MIAMI, me quedó una noche y despúes a Bahamas.
Esta vez voy a vivir en la Casa de Linda. Ya lo veremos.

HURRICAN IRENE...
24 al 26 de Augusto de 2011 el Hurricane Irene. Empezó desde Puerto Rico con fuerza 2 y el ojo de Hurricane avanza dirección Eleuthera y sobre esta isla se va a cargar con la fuerza 4 qué es el nivel HURRICANE EXTREME.
He hablado la ultima vez con Betz el 24 de Augusto y hasta hoy no se puede conectarme con uno de sus móviles. La isla se va a quedar sin ninguna hoja....
El FORECAST para este año de D. Klotzbach y Dr. William Gray para el Caribe de 2011:
17 named storms,
9 Hurricans and 5 major Hurricanes.....
